What does NaN mean? Saw it pop up on some countries when i was placing armies.
This happens when something gets goofed in the engine with the displayed units.
Best to refresh the page.
it means "Not a Number", it usually is the output from a bad calculation in programming - and what Amidon said is how it manifests here. If it persists, let us know.
I get it frequently when I change my mind on unit placement and use the back arrow.
Got it awesome thanks guys.

Yup. Or when doing just about anything mid-placement phase (checking history, bonus list, rules or board explorer after having placed some but not all armies, for example). Just use the refresh button in the game control ribbon.
When I watch back history after a game, it nearly always messes up, and only corrects itself if that territory changes hands.

Agreed. I see this a lot during history views. And I often need to refresh or cycle back and forth between turns before the numbers are accurate. It's not much of an issue, but perhaps there is an easy fix?
