Have a great 2019!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year!
It promises to be a chaotic one. But perhaps 2019 will be a great one for WG.
Anyone want to play the Year Game?
1= (2-1) + (9 * 0)
Couldn't think of one where they were in order.
2= (2^1) + (9 * 0)
oh duh.
1 = 20-19
2 = 20 / (1+9)
found one in order for #2 also.
Sweet!
3 = (2+1) + (9*0)
Not sure if it can be done in order...
I guess you could do it with a vinculum. But I'm not sure how to represent it. I'm just going to use underscore.
3 = 2 + ( 0 * 1) + .9
That will open up a lot of solutions in the future too, since we can basically use the 9 as a 1.
It's easy, guys
3 = (2x0x1) + SQRT 9
Which also gives the next ones
4 = (2x0) + 1 + SQRT 9
5 = 2 + (0x1) + SQRT 9
6 = 2 + 0 + 1 + SQRT 9
7 = -2 + (0x1) + 9
8 = (2x0) - 1 + 9
9 = (2x0x1) +9
...etc
Forgot the sqrt was allowed!
Here is a more "official" set of the rules from what I posted earlier: http://mathforum.org/yeargameWorksheets/2019/2019.rules.html
10 = 2 x 0 + 1 + 9
11 = 2 + (0 x 1) + 9
12 = 2 + 0 + 1 + 9
...or 12 = 20 + 1 - 9
Can 13 be done in order?
Oh!
I like the alternative 11
11 = 2^0 + 1 + 9
13 might be too high. Addition only takes you to 12, for multiplication 0 and 1 in the middle makes it difficult to get larger numbers.
11 = 20^1-9
12 = 20+1-9
12 = 20+(1-9)
Doesn't seem right that you can use SQRT but not SQ
I think it is because the radical symbol does not require a number to be written, but the exponent does. Seems a bit cheating to me also. Some people don't like the repeated decimal symbol either.
OK then - no extra numbers necessary..
13 = ln ((2+0)^19) RND
