I just tried joining a game but was denied because "I'm an enemy of one of the participants".

It means you have a "Standard" subscription.  It's one of the perks of membership. I don't think you could be denied if you were a Premium member. I only designate enemies if I suspect them of cheating or if they go out of their way to insult me (I can handle a modicum of insults), or their posts in games are full of obscene language.

More to it than just being a standard member. Someone has marked you out as not liking you. From the wiki:

Friends are always allowed to send you private messages and they will be available in the quick list of players when creating a new private game. Your enemies cannot post on your profile wall and you can use your preferences to set whether they can send you Private Messages. Also enemies with standard accounts cannot join games that you have started or have already joined. So you being a standard member combined with someone in that game marking you as an enemy, it will not allow you to join that particular game.

"Empty-headed animal" I can tolerate, but "food trough wiper" is stepping over the line..

I use the enemy feature to mark players who have a tendency of getting skipped or booted so they screw up less of my games.  

I think the only enemies I have marked are people who constantly PM me telling me how I'm playing wrong and what I should be doing instead.

Think is the operative word, I guess. I'd like there to be an accessible list somewhere in my private section - both for friends and enemies.

Thank you :) In hindsight it didn't look so difficult to find....but I have actually looked for them and failed...

Yup, I've seen them there since around the time I joined, which was just two months before Johasi

On the other hand, it's taken me a long time to discover some of the native board player features, so I've been slow on the uptake on other things

Bit of a bump here to the thread, which is hilarious, but I've been wondering . . . If I list someone as an enemy, do they know that I've done this? Have folks listed me as an enemy, but I'm unaware of this (because now I have to go cry myself to sleep again)? I'm just wondering how transparent the enemy status is to premium and standard members.  I don't really use the friend or enemy status, but I've noticed that poor players affect not only me, but also the people who join (or decide not to join) a tournament. If I start a tournament, I'd like everyone to enjoy playing together, so marking some bad actors as enemies might actually be good, akin to social immunity.
