Check out War of The Titans, where the top ranked player has been AWOL for almost a year. If somebody goes some time (6 months?) with no activity should their rankings be "reset"?
I think the thinking is to someday have multiple rankings boards where you could have "all time" rankings and "in the last year" rankings.
doesn't do much i noone else is playing it.
Krock is close to taking him out, but noone else is even close in # of wins & percentage. so it looks like anyone could make a run on that board if they are any good at it. it's not all that high of a score on the board...
If he's been away for a year and nobody has managed to overtake him in that time, I'd say that does nothing but validate that he is the top player.

There is a sense in which I think this is true, but a different sense in which I think it it isn't..
This may not be the case with the board in question, but the latter could apply if the overall calibre of play on a specific board increases, and especially if the pool of good players becomes deeper.
Records were made to be broken. The top spot should be earned.
Did they take away Hank Aaron's home run record after he quit playing baseball?
But he hardly ever makes the All Star game anymore.

If there is a problem like that, launch a dozen games of that type. It will get people playing and see the leaderboard change i'm sure.

It's how I took Stargear from Hugh, after like a year with very few games.
And then lost it back... and then took it... and then lost it back... and then took it... and then lost it back... and then took it... and then lost it back... and then took it...
