Over the last few months several wargear mapmakers have been creating new maps all with a single theme (LEGO). To make things even more exciting, Tom has put up $100 for the winners. Everyone is invited to vote on these boards to help decide the winner. The only requirement is that you must play at least one game on every board in the contest before voting. Voting will be open until Midnight GMT February 28th.
To keep the voting thread clean, this thread is for general discussion of the contest. To vote, you must go to this thread:

If that is not enough LEGO for you, here is another board I made for fun, but it is not a contestant:

When you play Lego Factory Battle, I recommend you start with one of the 'Simple' scenarios. If you like that and want a bit more, try out the advanced ones. I'll be starting a simple and advanced tournaments in the next week or two and will post here with links when those are ready.
For those of you who don't see development games in you Join Game list. I started a game on each of the boards so we can judge em!

I started a tournament on a simple scenario of my factory battle board:
this game does not seem right. coop and i have made some mistakes along the way and now it wont let either of us hold the gun. http://www.wargear.net/games/view/208476
j-bomb. There is an autocapture factory to put 25 ammo in the gun each turn, so you will have to wait several turns until one of you has enough ammo to transfer to your gun and kill the opponent.
There is a -100 factory on the gun. I assume this is what you mean that it won't let you hold the gun - you are putting less than 100 units on it? The reason for this is because otherwise you could take your own gun with your ammo and prevent the opponent from ever taking it. Because of the -100 factory on the gun, if you try to block your opponent by taking your own gun, the opponent can just wait a few turns for the gun to empty & then take it for the win.
You could actually spend ammo to block your gun as a last ditch defense. I haven't seen anyone attempt that though. I think it would usually just prolong the inevitable.
Hrm. Just reviewed the history of that game. You shouldn't be able to fortify from the gun to the minifig - that will definitely break things. I think I can change that border to an 'attack-only' border to fix that. I'll try to get to it tonight and promote a new version of the map.
I changed the border from the gun to the minifig to attack-only in all the scenarios and promoted the new version.
Started a couple of games & a tournament (can't create tournaments on dev games, as far as I can tell):

Lego X Factor:
Sweet, I'm glad there is still an opportunity to play these games before the the maps get judged.
Anyone can create games on these maps. We have 2 more months until the judging.
Due to an extension of the schedule, there are two map themes in the judging stage concurrently. This shouldn't happen again, but here is the list of the contestants in the Escher/Tessellations themed contest:
Escherdiles by Ratsy

Hex by Amidon37

Lizard Tessellations by Ozyman

Triforce Power by Yertle

I'm going to wait to make a thread for voting for this theme, until the voting on the LEGO theme is done, to reduce confusion. In two months I'll also get a thread just to announce this again for better visibility.
Tournament for Escherdiles:
Only one month left to vote on LEGO maps. If you want to vote, but haven't played a game on each map, you should start a game soon.
Doesn't look like the LEGO X Factor tournament is going to fill/start any time soon, so I started a single game on it:
Wargo seems to be out of Public Beta and therefore games cannot be started on it...any word on if it is still in the competition?
Sorry about that, it's back in. Does public beta expire?
yes - after 1 month.
Thanks!
When will those in Beta be in Review and Live? The Beta ones are probably going to be harder to get started as there are fewer people that will see them.
Viper told me in a PM he was planning on submitting 'after the holidays', but that he was really busy IRL.
I wonder if now that the schedule has been expanded and we have 8 months to design a board (from when the Theme is announced), we should crack down a bit on stragglers. Like maybe there is a 1 month grace period after the maps are due, but by then they need to be submitted to the review board or else they are kicked out of the contest?
I don't think we'd want to apply this to themes already in the judging phase, but maybe it would apply to the 'Educational' theme and onward? I don't like to make decisions about the contest unilaterally, so please give me feedback on whether you like this idea or not.
I like that "restriction/guideline" as I think it's probably good to ensure the Boards up for the Competition are going to go Live and will help with filling for games. I wouldn't be too big of a stickler on this either, so a grace period/leniency is still good.
