Don't worry about it Paul. It's very similar to Wargear except with hundreds of additional unplayabley horrible maps. There is a board rating system for users to rank boards and help sort out the decent maps from the sea of wasted 1's and 0's, but its frequently gamed by unscrupulous authors and their friends. Also, due to the math it uses, the top 10-15 boards is a fickle and unstable mess that turns over weekly, and is typically no indication that the map is one of the 10-15 favorite on the site.

Also, the forums aren't integrated into the site and there is no link to them anywhere, so no one knows about them. The map design tool is based on html or java or some outdated nonsense that requires refreshing the whole page every time you add a territory or border, which makes board development take literally 100 times as long while you watch your browser refresh over and over and over again. There are no special borders (like artillery or view only). It doesn't support transparency in maps or cards. It has tournaments but the engine is half-baked and often results in frozen broken or stalled tournaments. You can only see three open games to join at a time, so you'd better hope there's one you like (sometimes someone will put two 16 player games of a terrible map on there, and you won't hardly be able to see a game you actually want to play for 3 or 4 days!). The site administration doesn't communicate about vision or upcoming features with the community, and makes no announcement of changes. Partly that's because he just came back after disappearing for about 9 months while leaving the site and all its problems to flounder. Supposedly he's working on addressing some of the above complaints now, but you'd never know because he loves his secrets (not a personal attack there, simply stating fact).

Basically, its internet Risk circa 1999. You're not missing out.

    Like your grandpa, but angrier.
