You didn't have to do that just for me, you know. After I saw that picture of your girlfriend's toes, I believe you are what you say you are.

Risky, you gave up Google for a Microsoft product? I always laughed at the Bing commercials they had on TV for a while because their whole pitch basically amounted to "Got too much information? Not smart enough to use a search engine effectively? Bing is for you!"

Plus, without Google, what would Reich use to snark at people who ask questions they could more easily look up? lmBtfy?

Heh. For what it's worth, aside from lmgtfy, i don't use google either. The CEO of google the other day made some comment about 'if you don't want your search information shared, maybe you shouldn't be searching for those things.' That's not my style. I know all the engines save your search data. But his claim is akin to the argument that supporters of speed cameras make that "If you aren't speeding, you shouldn't care that there are cameras everywhere watching you drive and taking pictures of you!" Bullshit. Or USAPATRIOTards who think I shouldn't care that my phone conversations can be tapped and recorded without a warrant because I'm not saying anything I shouldn't. Just add google to the list of entities complicit in selling out to tyrants... "don't be evil' my ass.

Microsoft is the kind of evil I can live with.

I agree with your sentiments there, but Bing just plain sucks. Maybe it works better for you, but it never returns the results I'm looking for, even when I use the same search terms that I use on other engines that return what I am looking for.

i prefer their map program and the images search is lightyears ahead. their typical web search is taking me a bit of time to relearn. i've found i have to speak to it just a little differently than google. but then, i find the same thing at search.yahoo.com. I don't bother with any of the others. Wolfram Alpha sounded cool at first, but in the end, it never tells me what I'm looking for.

I haven't looked at their map or images search yet. I was too turned off by their regular search. I'll have to check it out.

Well I like bing for Map Making because it gives images right off the bat and if you roll over them you can have them expanded a little plus the ability to choose from pictures and illustrations is really nice too. I also like the complete scrolling for 1 search rather than clicking next. I've tried the FireFox plugin to make all pages like that but it just took too long to load on Google or Yahoo.
I agree, it doesn't always give you as much stuff but then I just try the others. My default is Bing. I even have an image search bar right on my tool bar so it's nice. If I'm looking for an address or phone number or any of the other lame stuff people do with search engines I would use the others probably. For the most part, any information I would need that way I know what site to go to and just use that rather than searching.
When the people at work ask me what they should use I always give them the same URL

Also, I thought monkeys wore diapers?

Reich, Wolfram Alpha is a piece of crap. Even what it does have in its databases doesn't work correctly yet (the baseball news aggregation site I hang out at had a long discussion about it, and from a baseball stats standpoint it's basically wrong about everything it claims to do).
