Been on the site for awhile now and have noticed that certain boards have nearly undisputed champs who either play them so many times they beat the board into submission and/or have genius gameplay tactics that nobody has been able to adapt to yet. *cough* Dud on Wargear Warfare *cough*

 

Thoughts?

 

Eventually this thread could be used to put targets on the backs of all the aforementioned players :)

When I was playing Wargear Warfare often, I took down Dud for about two months and had the top spot for about two month ('til yesterday) so it is possible.  Good work Dud taking back that top spot.

When I started here, the wins came fast an furious. I owned Dud for a few months and managed to push my ratings up above 2000. ..doesn't happen anymore. I think better players alter their strategies in games against other good players.

I'll second the "BlackDog in any board I'm playing" nomination. He's one of the very few players I've dealt with where, when I see him on the board, I have to adopt a "kill this player" strategy over a "shoot for the win" strategy if I want even a faint chance of victory.

From my perspective the competition has gotten tougher and tougher (duh) and has encouraged me to drink more (accordingly).  I am now experimenting with strategy as well as with alcohol.....(Is that bad?)

Hmmm...I think your experiment in Alcoholytics might turn out well!

I employ a method called strategery.  It's a mix of strategy and something with "ery" on the end of it.. Not sure what though..

I'm definitely learning the players to be afraid of, and Dud is high on the list.  Besides BlackDog, who else should I be wary of?

*Hides in a corner* I don't want a target on my back. I'm quite happy having people leave my rankings in place.

I'd suggest looking at the rankings on the board.  That's usually a pretty big giveaway.  I lose to lots of people on lots of maps, but I'll hold my own on a few "w/o RISK" maps.

That does it...time to go buy some camouflage.

I had quit for a couple of months on the top of the list and see that thing have changed. Very good player arrived and are taking their place.

So how does the system works here? Are points more important than score? How to we get points?

I mean Championship Points and Global Ranking Scores?

continued playing is most important, having fun comes next, gaining a few tourney trophies is back a few steps from there and finally, somewhere in the distance, is rankings and points. :D

The competition is certainly becoming harder and harder. This site is a lot of fun :)

But while i find the global ranking pretty accurate, I don't like the tournament ranking system very much. What I don't get is that in tournaments, many players register, usually like 50 or 60, and we only get to play 3 games each.

So most of the time only one person comes out on top with 3-0 and so many others tie... (2-1 * 10; 1-2 * 20) Couldn't there be a system with more games to have a better final sample? Cos I can't really see the point of this.
