Wasted potential. I love the concept, the art style, and the balance. I do not love the too-similar player colors and difficult to distinguish borders/obstacles. With a slightly larger image and more obvious territory connections (or lack thereof) this would be a top board. As it is it's still fun, there are just a handful of "gotchas" to keep in mind.
Continents are difficult to differentiate. Value of continent vs. difficulty of holding it does not correlate well. Ok for turn based, poor settings for simulgear. Bridges/mountains/rivers are sometimes difficult to see/understand.
I think I'll stick with larger boards, but that's more a matter of taste. The colors can be really difficult to differentiate on this board, and bridges, rivers and mountains can be hard to see (others have said this, I know). I might play this again with a small number of friends.
Appearance is solid, territory borders/attack paths are below average. I feel that there are some unfair advantages if certain areas are controlled-but cant put my finger on it. Just average playability
similar to other reviews, good gameplay, if you pay attention to the distinctions beforehand it isn't bad at all. 'Bridges, mountains and rivers should stand out more on this board'
i like this board, it seems rare to see a good North America board, but this one is. Good lay out, seems balanced. I agree that the mountains and rivers don't stand out enough, i made some dumb mistakes due to thinking i could attack where i couldn't. Certainly a good map though, solid and fun!
Good gameplay, but I had a hard time adjusting to the small distinctions between which inland territories can attack each other. Bridges, mountains and rivers should stand out more on this board.
If you've ever played "Antastic!", game play on this board will look awfully familiar, if a bit more cramped. Graphics are prettier, though. I recommend lots of fog with this one.
I liked it. I was fooled by proximity and lack of contact and made some rookie mistakes. i had some color issues knowing where the bonuses were. ovearll very enjoyable board.
Board seems to be laid out very well for bonuses. In the game I played a lot of luck went to how well you started in the beginning with placement. Didn't like that, but that was only because I had a bad placement and even worse luck. Not bad and a pretty good started board for those who are just coming into Wargear.
