It's a good map, a solid map...and yet, for simulgear play, a simple map. In my experiences, luck factor plays a little too much of a role. I hate to differ from Gimli's rating, but there it is.
Solid two player board. The end game is great, but the early game involves a little too much grinding against neutrals for my taste. I think that this leads to dice deciding too many games (although this seems to be a minority opinion). However, if the early game is equal to both players, then things really get interesting. Unfortunately, like most two player games, once one player gets an edge, it is very difficult to overcome if they know what they are doing.
The bomb (factory). Dice can determine a few games early in a way that's hard to recover. But compact boards which minimize the fluff and maximize the funky stuff get the gold seal. I know there are plenty of strategies to pan out, but after a while, like so many scenario start 2 player games, an opening script emerges. The dice do a good job of mixing up the mid-game, and the endgame is always thrilling. Well done Cumby.
Curious about Simulgear? Need some schooling on it? This is the board you should earn your chops on. It's big enough to try out some of the cooler tricks you can play with Simulgear, but simple enough where you're not having to fight the board while you play. Brilliant stuff.
This map is wonderful. I don't know where Cumberdale thought this up but the Simalgear action is amazing. So many different strategies meet on this board. Is one better then the other who knows. You see what you get on this board. Do you defend and then attack or just straight go for the other side. Many ways to play. My favorite board of all time.
I like this board a little more each time I play it. I didn't appreciate how clever it was the first time around. If you think you don't like it, give it a second (and third) try.
Do you know the secret to finding Noobs on wargear (or Morons who can't appreciate the beauty of Simulgear)? They don't rate this a 10/10! :) Graphics upgrade... check. Using the better flexibility of wargear to make a better board... check (better card scale and using capitals feature). Best SimulPlay board out there!
I love this map! From the demented mind of Cumberdale comes something no sane person would come up with....a bomb factory? Really? It's all about playing the percentages the best to utilize your bonuses where they will most help you. Get your bonuses when the getting is good and charge ahead.
If you don't like this map then I don't know what to tell you other than to start another game of WarGear Warfare and try to stay awake during your turn.
