Board Description

You're minding your own business playing a nice game of what you thought was basically WarGear Warfare on a pretty cool looking map when you begin to notice that every time it's your turn, armies spring up all around your territories. Some have appeared on your territories as well. So you check the history and quickly realize that since your last turn, almost 200 armies have appeared all over the board in seemingly random fashion.

"This is madness! There's mayhem everywhere.", you exclaim with frustration.

Calm down, Grasshopper. It's not madness. Nor is it mayhem. It's just a little Anarchy. Read on if you want to understand how it works. Otherwise, feel free to continue to play in a constant state of confusion ..and perhaps even a little paranoia.

In Anarchy, armies are consistently rising up around all of your territories. This is because at the beginning of your turn, every one of your territories produces a single army on every territory to which it is adjacent, regardless of whether or not you own it. But don't panic; at the start of your neighboring opponents' turns, their territories are placing armies on your territories.

This army creation scheme puts a lot of units on the board over the course of a complete round of turns - potentially two for every border.

Remember, you are strengthening all of your adjacent opponents at each start of your turn, so it's not a bad idea to control adjacent territories. When you control neighboring territories, they become "cooperative" and create armies on each other.
