Board Description

Hansa Teutonica garnered 'Game of the Year' and 'Best Strategy Game' awards from Board Game Geek in 2010. Of course, this Risk-style homage plays quite differently.

  • Each Teutonic town (units with house(s) with a single scroll-end at thier base) award players an in-hand 'continental' bonus equal to the number buildings in that town.
  • The villiages on the roads between the towns gain no 'continental' bonuses ..but do count toward the standard territory per-diem bonus of one army for every 12 territories held.
  • 1 fortify to any connected territory is ON
  • "Back to attack" is ON
  • The game is won by capturing 2 of the 6 guild scrolls, then holding them through an entire turn and into their following turn. Once you have accomplished this you have won the game. On your next turn 'place' your units and the game will end.

  • The 6 Guilds are the larger territories with two scroll ends (they also include images of people related to their associated trades).
  • Guilds are joined by capturing and holding their associated towns (having scrolls of the same color) through one turn.
  • Grey towns have no Guild affiliations.
  • Players can capture an opponent’s Guild only by capturing all of its towns.
  • Guilds cannont be attacked, but they can support their associated towns via artillery borders. I.e they can attack those territories but only bring them down to a single unit. They can never capture and occupy them.

    6 solitary roads on the map lead to smaller hamlets. These are accompanied by a 'cloak and dagger' shaped silhoettete territory. They represent a network of spies and theives. The more of them you capture, the greater their 'continental' in-hand bonus value per the following table..

    2 hamlets = 1 bonus unit

    3 h = 3 bonus units

    4 h = 6 bonus units

    5 h = 10 bonus units

    6 h = 15 bonus units
