I was adding modifiers to a board, and was trying to achieve 6-sided attack dice vs. 4-sided defend dice. I'm a little unclear on whether or not I did it right.
So, I clicked on the territory to attack from, and then clicked on the territory to attack to (it would be nice to color the first one green and the second one red, or something to indicate you got the directionality the way you intended). Next, I selected -2 from the defend modifier drop-down. However, when I clicked Apply, the border has a little red arrow pointed at the source territory -- shouldn't it be a green arrow to indicate the attacker has an advantage?
Maybe I'm just thrown off by the red arrow business, but would be nice to have some way to easily confirm that the dice are set up the way you intended.
I don't believe arrow colors currently indicate any information at all. At least Doom's Myths and Legends map has Red arrows when viewing the Territories tab.
is there any chance of having a modifier that only applies to one player. so you could set up a scenario where for example one player could have a higher attack rating on land but any water borders you could set border modifiers to give them a disadvantage but only have that apply to the designated player. then you could set a separate modifier system for each player that pertains to that specific player. so a single border may have as many different modifiers as there are players.
some one may have suggested this idea already but i think that it would add a extra dimension to a board.
I like the separate modifier for each player idea. But then again there are a number of things it would be nice to set per player (continent bonuses, attack routes, unit maxes, etc.)
hi Kjeld - I'm working on a usability to the Designer at the moment, it has lots of improvements like being able to add multiple borders / modifiers at once. It should make things a lot quicker from a designer's perspective.
As part of this I'll be fixing a couple of bugs in the way modifiers are being displayed currently.
Something I've been begging for elsewhere for a long time is something along the lines of "continent modifiers." Would it be possible to add a feature that made it so that "if you control these specific territories, then this border appears, or becomes modified with 7 sided dice vs 6 sided dice from territory a to territory b." I also have been talking with another player about "travelling modifiers." This would be a token that marks a "general" who attacks with +1 sides on his attack die. If these things are possible and appear on Wargears I will be a happily spendthrift member.
Hey Eddy, good to see you on this side of the line.
What you're asking for is something we've started referring to as Conditional Borders/Modifiers/Bonuses,etc or simply, Conditional Elements. Just about everyone has asked for some feature like that now, in one way or another. It's something I know tom has acknowledged and says he'd like to implement, but that it's a hard one. I believe we'll see it someday, but there are a lot of other things higher on the priority list at the moment.

heh, heh, heh
RiskyBack.... always laughing at the banana jokes.
I like the idea of moving to get things done, but paying twice as much for a site in the works is a difficult (changed from hard for you RB) thing for me to do as a starving college student. How is the board making on this in comparison to past sites? I would like to make the move, but it's a tough decision right now.
EN, the design tool here is far superior to the other site's. There are still some issues, however these are the big pluses:
1 MB file size
All in Flash
Customizable Card Scale
More Play options with more to come (Artillery Borders are AWESOME)
Everything in one place (no need to make a mod to get the setup)
A review system to be sure your maps are complete before release
Adding multiple modifiers at one time
A crisper and clearer editor
and most importantly.......
an Administrator who is excited about the site succeeding and who feels that great maps, variation in play and allowing creativity to be used in the concept and design of the map rather than in how to get around the site's limitations.
I'm RiskyBack and I'm all geared up and not goin' fishin' any time soon.

Lol :P
Other than BAO not supported yet, I really haven't noticed anything that WG can't do but WF can, but there are things (as Risky pointed out), that WG can do but WF can't.
I personally haven't started any new fishing trips since I geared up, and if things continue to improve in the future, I see no reason to go fish.
Though BAO is a big thing, at least for me. But I have it on good authority that a Simultaneous Play game mechanic is in the works, and will eventually be introduced on War Gear.
I've been really interested in BAO lately, so that's big for me too. I'll most likely be making a move here pretty soon, especially with BAO, or when my + account runs out at the latest. Is the board transfer easy?
Also I'd like to see an option for an elimination bonus to be additional attacks in a limited attack game, or a continent that provides additional attacks. Are the tournaments fixed?
Can I get a week free trial? ;) Under the table like, see.
You already got a month or so, just for signing up.

No tournaments yet, but there has been some discussion about them and making sure they are done right the first time.
(Same for Board Sales).
Sounds good to me.
