I woke up to just 2 turns today and have only had maybe a dozen all day. Is it a WarGear Holiday and nobody told me? Fridays and the weekends are usually slower but Wednesdays? Really?
I feel your pain Risky...I've been experiencing the slow down too. Almost like withdrawal when I realize I"m just staring at the screen and hitting "refresh" every few minutes to no avail.
*raises a glass* i'll drink to that...
*bump* as noone has done anything in a while (and it gets my name on all the forum threads as last poster!!)
Yay! I'm back in the top 20 in the Tourneys again! at least it was short lived...

Now there's a blast from the past - asm disappeared right around the time I came over here. ...coincidence??
are you saying you're getting ready to leave, M?
Fun!
I seem to recall that we crossed over for longer than that, M57. I can see you've been busy!
I was hoping Risky would see this thread but I already ran into him in a game so my cover's blown. I'm probably not "back" per se but I thought I'd stop by and say hello to all the old timers.
I think Factories were coming into being when you were last here ..but a lot has changed on the designer end of things since then.. The types of factories have been expanded and tweaked over time to able to do some wild things.
Ed Nygma did some ground breaking work by using them to 'program' the board. Since he left, no one has really created anything along the lines of what he made. Programming in 'factory' can be cumbersome - but he proved it can be done.
Ozyman's "Invention" is an example of how they can be used to alter fog and create temporary borders - basically changing the nature of the board as play evolves.
Amidon37 and I have made games (e.g. Go-Geared and Hex) that are or can be entirely deterministic and are extremely non-risklike.
Most recently I've made a few boards (War of the Roses and Renaissance Wars), that could be described as a game inside a game, where play on the map affects off-map holdings, which in turn then via to win the game.
Good to see you - and if you don't hang around - be sure to check back in a few more years ..and resurrect this thread.
Yippee! First post in 2015...long time???
