I think there should be a setting for the designer that allows the mapmaker to adjust the setting, with another setting to allow override (or not) by players.  Some boards might function well in lightning mode but poorly in a multi-day setting and vice-versa. Boards that allow for large player sizes might be much funner to play with a 1 or 2 day timer, etc. Something like this:

Suggested turn timer            (dropdown menu)

Allow Player override             yes/no

Cool idea, but definitely allow override.

I try hard to keep myself to only play 3 day or longer which could limit boards I could play.
