Civil War does seem long to me.

I don't mind losing anonymity but I have no experience with either whatsapp or hangouts.

And i suggest Discord for the chat hangout. Not only it removes the problem of being anonymous, but also has the option for voice chatting as well. Not sure what will the others say tho.

i assumed the poll would include chat option, which i haven't seen a 3rd option yet (BTW, we used hangouts last time, and i'd have a vote against whatsapp)

i stand corrected, there has been another offered up!

the one drawback i had with Hangouts was trying to keep ppl straight (username vs realname). i'm guessing this discord would eliminate that; altho would like some more feedback on it (how it works, private chatroom?, etc)

I've used discord for almost 3 years now (usually for a different browser game i don't want to mention), and it has been a great source of communications and easy ways to talk.

It starts out by creating an own personalized "Server" (which is an entire channel dedicated to one thematic on common), and from there it works like a traditional chat would work, but all in all it's free. theres options for public and private (select people) rooms, same thing for voice chats, easy to communicate and only thing we need is our own Username and thats it (No Personal Names or anything), altho the downside is to create a new account in order to get started. Voice chatting is also available. An advantage Discord has is that it can make multiple separate channels (as an example, a chat for WGWF games, another for tournament-related games, etc) without having to move people around too many servers.

This is available, if i believe, in many platforms including Windows and Mac for the PC, and Android and iOS for phone, as well as a dedicated web browser for it.

That was a little introduction to Discord. Not going to get into the more technical stuff (like how to get people into private chats), but feel free to think about it if you think its okay, or we should go with the other options.

I would be against both WhatsApp and Hangouts. Spy's option seems best to me.

I was fine with Hangout, which is what we used last time, I think. But I concur that probably Discord is best.

I've also never played civil war, so I'm against that one.

I cannot use whatsapp or hangouts, but I am now on discord.

So at this point, I don't think I need to include the chat option in the poll, as there seems to be consensus (or at least strong preference) for discord.

If I may, I'd like to suggest vertigo as a fun 4-person background game to have going on during the tournament.

We could also play through all of the Mario 3 maps as a sort of psuedo-tournament
