Tom gave me a bump to set this years compition in motion! Usual 100 from Tom and my 100 bonus dollars for first place. After some time Korrun has been paid his bonus money from winning the last years board making competition(Reef)...yeah I'm lazy and anti-man....it took a while to bypass PayPal. Any way, I believe that Steam Punk is this years theme(2nd place last year)...I'm open to thoughts....changes....voting for the next competition
Sounds good to me; been meaning to brush off the cobwebs and design something. What are the parameters (dates, etc)?
Thanks for getting this rolling MB!
u bet ya.....i dont know the deadlines? maps in by September 1? vote near the end of year, to give a few months to play?
k, works for me.
so submitted between 00:00 EST Jan 1 & 00:00 EST Sept 1?
Voting the first two weeks of Dec?
Is "Into the Badlands" steampunk?
I think one could stretch that butterfly umbrella to cover it...
Badlands....yes
2 month bump.......anyone make progress?
I don't have a good idea for this, but if I think of one I might throw my hat in the ring.
My only real experience with steampunk is Wild Wild West, and I can't see trying to make that into a map.
I have a train based idea, but haven't gotten very far yet. If I'm the only one, then we should get a theme that everyone feels like working on.
But, if we want to keep it, here's some reading to spark some ideas: http://steampunk.wikia.com/wiki/Steampunk
Anything to do with clockworks, steam, trains, airships. Can be alternate history or post-apocalyptic. You could also push it up into dieselpunk.
Some ideas:
I got a board image together, but haven't figured out how to play it yet. also not sure it's steampunk-y enough.

anyone got thoughts?

- Gears inside of a clock - (https://www.videoblocks.com/video/steampunk-rotation-of-the-gears-bt05bqcginiskpbg)
- Airship Pirates - (http://abneypark.com/gamead.jpg)
i had some thoughts of making a scenario (or maybe just a new board) off of Kensington with the clock gears for this theme
Also: Airship Pirates! If I could find good images to utilize, I think I could definitely do something with that; got some minor ideas; tho would need a few factories, and I am *not* literate when it comes to programming those.

I thnk that image looks great, and game play seems pretty straight ahead. I suppose you could have some objects that give extra bonuses, but I think I would keep it simple - with no fancy mods and divide things up into five or six buildings as continents with four to ten territories in each.
Agree. The image looks good and can fit into the Steampunk theme...but those card images look generic.

I had a similar thought a while ago but with actual gears. Here is the start/image if anyone wants it.

How do I make a new version of a board again? I know i need to do that to create new scenario under an existing live board. I obviously did it once upon a time or i wouldn't have incremented versions of my other boards, but can't remember.
