Why does https://www.wargear.net/ not work?
Because it isn't encrypted.
But why isn't it? Every other bookmarked website I have uses https, even the National Weather Service.
Is is Tom's prerogative not to enable it? Is it a limitation of the hosting company? Is it a bug?
I'd be surprised if any hosting service or web hosting app that Tom might use (I think he hosts his own servers, or at least has them hosted for him) doesn't allow HTTPS.
But to do https, you need to buy and maintain a certificate that proves you are who you say you are. He might just choose to save the cost.
I'll take a look at doing this - certificates are free these days with LetsEncrypt but to be honest I don't see a huge amount of benefit to be gained from encrypting traffic to a board gaming site!
I don't want any man-in-the-middle altering my troop movements!
just-kidding. Honestly Tom, if you are going to spend time on wargear, https is not in the top 50 things I'd want you to work on.
Definitely top 100 though.
