How do you add your favorite boards to your profile? Is that a premium only feature?

Not a premium feature. Go to the boards page and there's a star symbol you click to make the board as a favorite. Though I think you can only do this from a desktop as the options under each image where this symbol is don't show up as you can't hover over the image on a phone.

and there's a limit to how many you can add...too small a limit IMO.

Really, do you have any idea how high?

I have 31 right now and know that I trimmed that down.

How many do you want WT? Just checked and you only have 28 marked. So you can add some more for sure.

i wanted to use it to pare down the board list at one point, and thought it topped me out at 25-30, but maybe it got increased. i'll see about adding more. 

EDIT - looks like the restriction has been removed, i just got to 101 with no errors...

Of course, there are some boards which don’t show in the All Boards list.
