I don't want to be a debbie downer, but after being away a few years.. this place seems empty!?

Virtually no live games are triggering, and games I have set up have not had other players join after several days, games used to trigger within a few hours!

Whats going on, has this place quietened down a lot or something?

there's a blast from the recent past! good to see you back; hadn't gotten a chance to say that in one of the other threads this wknd. 

it has slowed a bit overall. the RT games have slowed quite a bit in the last month or so. i think a lot of RT games were maybe college folks?

Yes, not sure what reminded me of this place, but fancy a few games again. When I have a moment i'll attempt to stir things up a bit by launching loads of games, hopefully pull people in!

I've been feeling it too.  I made a facebook group hoping to jump start the community, but not tons of luck so far.

Many long-time players are still here but have cut back on their game play - and discussions have died down -

I've cut down to 1 or 2 active games...and sometimes now go a month without any. Lost a bunch of games from very strong positions and got fairly unethusiastic about it from there.

Here here.  Life got in the way, and a long stream of losses has wounded my fragile ego, so I pouted in the corner for a few weeks.  However, now that Fantasy Baseball is done for the year....and real baseball (which was ever more exciting) is over, I'm back and picking up a few games here and there.

Sorry Aiken, I'm not a RT game player, so I can't help you there.

Never played 1V1, I like the chaos of big games

Yes big games are much more fun. But never any real time games available bigger than 1v1 or 3P if you're lucky

One-sidedness?  There are many balanced boards out there which pit skill versus skill.

It might be worth making a list on the wiki of boards that are balanced for 1v1 or at least make some attempt to balance 1v1 games.

For truly balanced 1v1 boards, Terminatorr should look into simulplay boards.  However, perhaps he prefers turn-based games, which are much harder to balance...?

I think he might be more annoyed that once the board has swung one way, its often hard to make a come back?

Dueling boards are not fun and are rarely balanced......in my mind at least. Maybe it's my awesome mind but I always seem to have bad luck early.....this translates to no chance of coming back. With others involved I still might have a chance? I'm only lucky and have no skill.

I'm working on some duel boards that should have a bit more balance... but it's a completely different kind of game than Risk.

I would like to note that perhaps my initial shock was over played. I am now in about a dozen games, happily keeping me busy.

I would suggest there is quite a steep investment for a new player however when starting on this site.

Thoughts on maybe how to curb that a bit?
