On many occasions when I join a multi-player, real-time game, if the game starts while I am on another tab reading the news or whatever, even though I have enabled the setting for an audible alert, no audible alert will sound when it becomes my turn.
I am using Chrome on Windows 10. This only happens during my first turn. Many times I have glanced at the tab for WG and noticed a "(1)" appear in the tab heading indicating that it's my turn, and then only when I click on the WG tab does the audible alert sound off, even though it's been minutes after it became my turn. I've even missed turns because I wasn't paying attention.
However, after I take my first turn, if I then switch back to another tab, then I will get the audible alerts for my turn every turn thereafter.
I realize this is a very minor issue and I should be paying closer attention when I join a real-time game. Still, if there is a way I could fix this, that would be great.
Update: This doesn't just happen with real-time games. I just experienced the same thing on my first turn of a 1-day game that started while I was logged in but on another tab.
Just found out an audible alert is even possible, thanks to this post.
I think it's a change to Chrome which has broken this, I'll see what I can do to work around it.
