I've had this for months, but sometimes I'm taking a turn and transferring the armies can take 15-20 seconds, during which time I cannot load other pages of the site either.

Sometimes this may happen more often than others.

Would this be hosting related or some problem specific to me?

I see this a lot also.  Seems to be worse in the evenings (USA).  It's especially bad around the top of the hours.

Any particular time? Generally the performance seems fine from what I can see in the logs and live performance tracking counters so I'm surprised to hear this.

There will be the usual early morning EST performance issues related to database backups etc.

Even today a few hours before this post I get a hang for like 20 seconds or so where I can't load new pages or attack with armies etc.  and have to just wait.

I'll try and track times.  For me it happens at work and at home and I haven't tracked it to particular times.  

At 10PM and 11pm the system locks up for 5 minutes.

This I believe is the database backup that Tom is talking about.  Although I thought that was once a day...

feeling it right now.  Each attack, fortify, placement, etc. is taking 10+ seconds.

Just happened 1 minute ago - frozen for 30 seconds in the games waiting to place armies.  Oddly enough I was able to use the forums during that time (though slowly).

Just had it while trying to turn in a set

lasted around twenty seconds, but could still open other pages on the site
