Erm, I found Bladensberg kinda hard to review. I like the board, lots of polish - lots of fun - great idea.  But I think the learning curve is hard to approach.  

I dunno... let me know if I'm out to lunch on that one. I'd be curious to hear the general consensus.

I played my first dozen games, or so, against the designer when it was in dev and it took about 3 games before I had a firm grasp on the board mechanics.  My most prominent initial mistake was abandoning territories by accident... Don't do that, it hurts!  I think if most take the time to study the terrain dice differentials and stick it out for 3+ games while learning how to use the 'A' button and properly selecting how many troops to move after each battle is over, they should be pretty competent at understanding the board at that point.  After that comes the nuances of board strategy based on the overall terrain layout and not just between adjacent territories.  ie, ones long term goal to get from a to b to c to d to e, etc.  That is what comes during games 1-7.  A slight learning curve, but definitely worth it.  It's a great board with wonderful nuances and if anyone wants to learn it better feel free to invite me to a game and ask me questions as it goes along.

Battle of Waterloo is such a good and creative board. I love it!

Next up:  Battlestar!

On a related/not-relevant note, my Nerdidex does not include BattleStar Galactica, and I feel like maybe it should.

if you've not seen the modern BSG; it is WELL worth your time to binge watch it. There's one season that drags, but once past that it runs downhill to the finish.

Also this board was created before scenarios was available.  I have wanted to create a multi-player/multi-lane version and could do others.

 Bowling was fun!  -Thats a great one if you want something quick and scrappy.
