I just got three wild cards in my first three turns on the Civil War map. Literally thought the game was broken until I got my fourth card. If my math is correct, the odds of that coincidence are about .01%.

Anybody else have any cool coincidences like that in games they've played?

Looks like that map actually has a couple of extra wild cards in the deck:

    Card deckA:18 B:18 C:18 W:4

The default is just 2.  I have never changed those numbers from the default on my boards, but I have thought of making a board where there are tons (or even all) wild cards.

I'm not sure that I'd like a board with all wilds. I think it'd take away from the timing of your attacks, and eliminate sneak attacks on back to back trades.

Just depends on the game. No reason it couldn't be worked in as a mechanic.

+1 - it would remove an element of randomness, that could be a good thing.  I could also imagine some kind of theme where having only a single card would fit.  In general, I think it's not a good idea, but I wouldn't dismiss it entirely.

The Bowling board awards only a single kind of card - so you always have a trade in.  The games are short and the card values low so that removes some randomness but still keeps the bonus mechanic of cards.

Agree, but the result on most boards would be that pretty much all players would end up receiving a bonus on the same round and in the same order throughout the game - hardly acceptable for most designs ..though I suppose on a board where cards are hard to come by, it could be a desired mechanic.

I still feel that cards have a massive amount of untapped functionality when you consider what they could be used for if they could trigger factories.
