No, that was how I got around the 10 game limit before I became a premium member. Just join a bunch of tournaments and set how many tournament rounds you wan to play at a time to unlimited.

Standard is given 10 games AND 10 tournaments joined at any given time. Though, as an added trick, once you have finished all your games in a tournament, even if the tournament is ongoing, you can resign from the tournament to free yourself up to join another.

I have never tested that. I only resigned from tournaments that I knew I had already lost.

I've also only resigned from tourneys I've lost, almost always once I finished all possible games that I could play in that tourney. If you surrender before your finish your games, it apparently doesn't affect your tourney ranking
