Not sure what you mean by hijacking Ratsy.

Now, back to the toilet paper, one factor in the decision-making might be the thickness of the paper.  Probably, with thicker paper, you'd want the under approach as the over tends to restrict you to a square or two, atleast when we're talking full roll.

I've heard that under is better if you have cats, toddlers etc., because it's harder to unspool.  If you don't have cats or toddlers, etc.  I prefer over because it's easier to unspool.

thingol, i disagree; with the thicker paper, you need to go under as it's harder to rip...you need the perfect wrist snap or two hands, otherwise it unrolls and you get too much, but not enough to make two separate wipes...

when i put it back on the holder i put it back 'under' mainly because of the past experiences with toddlers in the home and the fact i use a thicker paper...

    I'm a man.
    But I can change,
    if I have to,
    I guess...

It's not as childish as you might think:

Yup, I started a pretty pointless discussion.

Seemed more interesting than "just post."

    What were you envisioning?

How about a double-sided holder? That way, you have the over and under covered. Works for the whole family then.

You mean a two roll dispenser?  I happen to have one in my house where the roll sits on a vertical post,

..which begs the question, "Left or right?"

Let's not forget the ever increasingly relevant "toilet paper in space" paradox.

You guys are making me leave the forum I created. I could have simply named the tread "toilet paper debate"

    spenserroger1,

Correct me if I'm misinterpreting your initial posts, but to me they implicitly suggest that you can post anything and it counts toward the badge.  Indeed, it may be the perfect forum for the great toilet paper debate.
