Hello: I find that I was recently in a game that may have been thrown? Just a suspicion but ... ?
It was a tournament game with 3 other players, 2 teams. My so called 'partner' seemed reluctant to communicate. That was fine. Some people communicate very little.
But at one point, I requested some assistance, asking that he/she withdraw 2 armies from Tennessee in a Civil War game, so that I (in essence, we) might get the reward of 4 armies for the territory. Not until my third request did he/she comply. The initial response was "I will try". Indeed, that was the only communication during the entire game.
When I tried to discover if he/she was willing to work together at all, there remained no response. I chose to withdraw from the game as I am here to share in the enjoyment this site offers. I do not wish to be involved in any games that may include a genuine hostile attitude toward an opponent or indeed, a 'partner'.
One member of the opposing team responded in a very understanding manner when I informed both opponents I wished to resign, and why. I never heard anything from the other opponent.
I won't name names but as I feel fairly new here still, is it common for members to be hostile to others when teamed? I submitted a request to surrender and am awaiting the result. Thank you.
Otherwise, I still enjoy the site immensely along with the attitude of the vast majority of people in it. Thank you.
I haven't noticed hostility. I have noticed some people seem not to see messages. May have to do with what platform they're using. You gotta remember to scroll down.
Team games are a real gamble.
I love them and play a lot of them but it is not uncommon to get a clueless teammate or one who gets booted.
Actually I think this happens less than it used to now that I think about it.... But I am more likely these days to recruit my teammates via private messages than I used to be.
In any case I suggest you chalk it up and move on.

This is the best idea. Feel free to PM me to join your team in a game. If you read the forums, you know there are a lot of friendly players here. I bet most of them would be happy to team with you.
Thank you for your advice and experience. I had forgotten that some may not read messages. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and as you say, move on. Thank you again.
There is nothing 'hostile' about not communicating. People may not communicate for a number of reasons. Some players here may not be comfortable using English, others may be on devices that make typing a pain. Many standard members don't like to PM because they are unaware that standard members can 'privately' message their teammates.
Thank you M57. Good advice. I only hope that you are right because we just went through the 1st game in a tournament and my strongest opponent appeared to be my team mate.
Would you agree that a team which communicates has a much better chance of success?

No question. Everything else equal (including things like position and Luck Stats), the team that communicates will beat the team that doesn't every time.
It's common practice to message someone who you know is a good communicator to join one's team and then write a public message in the tournament to reserve their spot on your team. This is a good way to avoid finding yourself in such circumstances.
