I LOVE Johnny Yuma maps. He only has one on WarGear. Does anybody know of any way to get in touch with him? I'd really like him to bring some of his boards over here or, failing that, I'd like to get his permission to do my best to port them over myself.
Any thoughts on this in general?
He made a new map over here for a competition called Sleestaktica and it's a great board. Gettysburg was my favorite of his, and the Viking map was awesome. I would love to see more.
He only has the one map here. This might be because he's a standard member, not premium.
Yes, exactly. I saw a game started on the Sleestaktica board and I got very excited. I had actually forgotten that he ever signed up here, although it appears I was the first to write a greeting on his wall when he did. Imagine my crashing disappointment when I find out that's his only WG board...
He released that board in 2011 and his last visit to the site was June of '14... Gettysburg was amazing, the Viking map was incredible, they are literally all great. For me he's definitely in that Legendary pantheon of innovative board makers from the olden days with Cumberdale, Cramchakle, Yertle etc.
His boards are stunningly beautiful ..or from this designer's point of view, depressingly beautiful ..but inspirational. Mechanically they range from masterful to interesting at worst. If he and Edward Nygma could have had a little designer baby, I wouldn't bother to design another board.
Sigh ..they're both gone.

Designer limits were removed so standard can make as many as they can imagine up these days.
Hey there! It's been awhile since I've checked in on things here. Thanks for all the kind words. I'd like to do some more work here for folks who enjoy my maps.
A number of years ago, I worked with a group of people who regularly played this game. I enjoyed making maps for us to play together. Over time, we all ended up in different places, and for the most part stopped playing altogether. I suppose this is a familiar story to some. The end result for me was that I just drifted away.
I think some of my maps from Warfish would port over nicely here. Some of the enhanced map-maker tools would make their gameplay even better. If there is interest, I'd be happy to work on some things.
There is interest. Do let us know if we can help with anything!
most definitely.
FYI - Johnny. Tom sponsors several map making contests a year now. If you start making a map or two a year here, I can just about guarantee it would pay for a premium membership for you, or you can just take the prize money as cash. Details are on the wiki, but let me know if you want help finding them.
Cool. Thanks guys. I'll check out the wiki.
well there you went and ruined it for the rest of us Ozy... ;^)
