Hey all,
I'm making a board, and I want the attacks to follow this kind of pattern:
Your territories will have a max of 5 or 6 units
Directly next to another player: 80% chance of a full kill (6 units to 6 units)
Artillery:
Line of sight for another player - I'd like to see from 2 to 4 units killed (~50% of them)
Partial cover - 2 to 3 units killed (~30% of them)
full cover - 1 or 2 units killed (~10-15% of them)
How do I set these dice so they're not ridiculous?
I came up with these on my own:
7vs7
11vs11
11vs10
20vs20
but I don't think it's quite right...
abandon?
Check out the dice simulator on the left:

You should be able to play with the #s and figure out what you need. Let me know if you have any questions.
Yeah, abondon is on. That's where I got the dice numbers in the first place, but I don't quite think I understand what it's telling me.
I picked those dice based on the average number of units it would take to kill 100 defenders. Have I got that right?
If you want to have a max of 6 in each territory, with abandon on. Assuming the attacker doesn't give up until they have run out of units...
I get around a 55% chance with 7v7 dice of the attacker winning against the defender.
I'm not sure why you put down 100 defenders. It should just be 6 defenders if you are curious about territories with a max of 6 and full.
To get a 80% chance of success, 6 units attacking 6 units, with abandon on, attack until you have no units left, I see d7 attacking d6 gives about 80% chance of success.
would you reasonably attack until you have no units left? (i.e. can you discount attacking with 2vx or 1vx?)
You can tell the simulator to behave either way (i.e. stop attacking when you can't roll 3 dice, or keep attacking, etc.). Just depends on what ratsy wants to consider when he is calculating his odds.
I'm trying to emulate xcom (if any of your guys have played it)
So I want the "character" to be able to take an artillery shot at the other player (with minimal losses to themselves) and to take off a couple of units - depending on the cover situation.
What's blind at once?

Crazy to think the initial exodus was over 4 years ago!
