Nice one. Classic tactics do not work here. Need to learn again :)

Riskyback raises the fine art of mapmaking to a new level. The gameplay transcends the lo-res 2D palette to which Risky limits himself.

Great map. It seems as though all the starting positions are pretty even, despite first appearance. Great use of advanced options to make a good, non-standard map. Good game.

Definitely one of the more interesting boards around here. Does create many different strategies based upon who you are and where you aim at dominating. Only 8 stars as only 3 of the 4 characters really have a chance (unless you get lucky and everyone else slaughters each other :) )

Beautiful board, and fantastic concept. I'm a big fan of the play of the game too, but until all 4 starting points are balanced (elf definitely has advantage), I'm putting this board on the back burner.

It's fun, but the advantage seem to be for the elf, and valkries really seem to struggle. has to do with distance to bonuses. Warrior and Wizard often have to cross paths for their fav bonuses, elf often gets an uncontested mid value bonus in the NE, and rolls on from there. There is a reason game creators are always the elf, and the last choice is the chick. Still the fog and varying strategies can be quite fun.

This board is very fun to play and the graphics are sharp. Very clean lines all around. The strategy is more heavily loaded in the first 5 moves which makes for a very quick map to play. Fog is a must-have for players like Thyra to have a fighting chance. Good work!
UPDATE: 01/15/11 - Risky I've played this board a bunch of times and still love it. Thyra is an unbalanced player and I can only win with her if all the other players don't know what they're doing. In order to balance her position (which might be more trouble than it's worth) I'd start playing with starting unit count and/or bonuses to try to even her chances.

I really like this board, though blue does have a big disadvantage on starting position. This boards needs tweaked a little to give blue a little more even start.

I agree with other posters. Fantastic board, takes a little getting used to, then the strategies start to develop. And Gauntlet just f'n rocks so how can you not like it!
