Board Description

Welcome to the Twisted Treeline.

This game simulates the gameplay of a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena). The object of the game is to destroy your opponents' buildings in succession until you can successfully reach the NEXUS. Once one team loses their nexus, the game is over.

This game can be played 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3, but 3v3 is highly recommended.

Terminology

The Map

  • The map is broken up into 2 Lanes, top and bot(tom). In between the 2 lanes is the Jungle.
  • In each lane there is 1 tower per team outside of the base. Inside the base are 4 Towers, 2 Inhibitors and the Nexus.
  • In the Jungle are a variety of Jungle Monsters that generate a bonus if defeated. There are also 2 Alters in the Jungle and a health pack.
  • Each team's base is guarded by Towers.
  • Tower

  • Towers provide vision and defense on the battle field. There are a few different towers that function similarly.
  • The Lane Tower needs to be destroyed first. Then the Inhibitor Tower must be destroyed, followed by the Inhibitor, the Nexus Tower, and finally the Nexus.
  • If buildings are destroyed out of order, they will be refilled.
  • Each tower has a maximum of 5 units that cannot be replensihed.
  • Territories that are adjacent to towers can attack towers across artillery borders.
  • Once a tower is destroyed, it cannot come back, unless destroyed out of order.
  • Towers can attack out with artillery borders within an area around the tower.
  • Nexus

  • The nexus is the building you're trying to protect. If the nexus is destroyed, your team is eliminated, and the game is over.
  • Buildings have a heirarchy. You must destroy the closest building to you in the lane before moving onto the next building, or the building will respawn on the following turn with full health.
  • Inhibitor

  • This building must be destroyed before you can destroy the Nexus Turret.
  • Jungle Monster

  • Jungle Monsters are attackable from their respective Dens.
  • If you slay a Jungle Monster, you will receive a bonus based on the difficulty of the Monster at the start of your turn.
  • Each monster has a maximum of 1 unit, with increasingly difficult dice odds that scales with the bonus the Monster provides.
  • Once a Jungle Monster falls for the first time, any player can gain that bonus for free, so protect it from the outside.
  • At the beginning of your turn, if you control a Jungle Monster, that territory will revert to neutral, and your bonus will be granted at the spawn location.

    Rules you need to know:

  • 15 attacks per turn. 2 fortifications.
  • One player on each team controls the towers, these count as attacks.
  • Team fortify is on
  • To win, all enemy towers, inhibitors, and nexus must be destroyed
  • Jungle Monster bonuses are granted at spawn, while the altars and health pack bonus is granted on sight.
  • Each turn you get a new unit at the spawn zone. No units are placed by player, all are automatically placed with factories.
