Each player starts with an excavator, and can dig down into the dirt directly below the shovel. Once underground, attacks are at 5 v 5 left, right, or down -- you cannot attack back up! NOTE: the board wraps on the left and right.

The GOAL OF THE GAME is to obtain the unobtainium (red ore on the bottom row) in order to build bombers and destroy your opponents by eliminating their excavator (capital).

Capture valuable resources to power, build and upgrade your equipment.

Be aware that the deeper you go, the more neutral resistance you will encounter and the higher the rate of attrition your units will suffer (see Underground Attrition below). Note that refinery upgrades will offset the attrition.

Once you upgrade your refineries, you will have quick access underground through your teleporter waypoint (directly under your refineries). You may upgrade either by attacking the refinery directly with 6v6 dice from your excavator, or by securing access to the associated resource: coal for the basic refinery, iron for the advanced refinery, and diamond for the omega refinery. If you auto-capture a refinery, you will acquire the neutral units on that refinery as well.

Game notes: Territories revert to neutral immediately, so be wise! Cards are 5,5,5,..., and you can hold as many as you want. You are limited to 15 attacks per turn. Refineries fortify to the excavator, and you can return to attack from fortify 3 times per turn.

  • Excavator - +3 per turn. Views all other excavators. Attacks associated refineries. Capital!
  • Basic Refinery - +2 factory on excavator. +1 factory on all dirt. Views all other basic refineries.
  • Advanced Refinery - +5 factory on excavator. Autocaptures the first teleporter at +1. +3 factory on all clay. Views all other advanced refineries.
  • Omega Refinery - +10 factory on excavator. Autocaptures the second teleporter at +1. +5 factory on all rock. Views all other omega refineries.
  • Bomber - Attacks opposing excavators at disadvantage with at 4 v 5 dice. Artillery attack against refineries at 5 v 5 dice. Placement-only (you cannot transfer to the bomber). Views all other bombers.
  • Teleporter - Excavator fortifies directly to associated teleporters (those directly below it). Views all other teleporters on same level and all territories up to 3 borders away. Can fortify back to excavator. Teleporter connects to surrounding territories by fortify-only borders -- you cannot attack out of the teleporter, you must be able to fortify out.
  • NOTE: Be careful not to abandon your refineries completely. You will lose the bonus on your excavator and the bonuses that offset below-ground attrition.

    RESOURCES

  • Coal - Autocaptures the basic refinery at +1.
  • Iron - Autocaptures the advanced refinery at +2.
  • Gold - Standard factory bonus of +2 on the advanced refinery and +3 on the omega refinery. Additional +2 in-hand bonus.
