This has to be one of my favorite boards on the site. The balance between the players is good, and the ability to make something out of nothing is there. The dice factor in but not overwhelmingly so, and depending on who you play with, strategy changes all the time. Superb! It would be perfect, but the endgame takes longer than it has to.

The end game is poor. If you have been eliminated, there are way too many restrictions on how many units you can place in the spots available. You often find yourself placing units into wasted locations just because you HAVE to put them somewhere (no reserves).

*Due to the good reviews below, i am going to continue a few more games on this board to see if i'll like it.

Only one game, and didn't enjoy it at all. Game was decided within the first 3 turns, then the next 15 or so turns were just getting finished off and then waiting for him to knock out the flags. The graphics aren't good at all in my opinion. It screams "don't play me."

A tragic number of bad reviews on this one... don't heed them!
Normally a 3 player endgame on a board is really bad, as no one wants to put themself out there to allow a 3rd party to gain in strength... so there is a lot of sitting back. Here the 3 player play is quite fun, and doesn't last in that stalemate situation forever.
The bonus structure is fun, and the choice in going for the endgame can be crucial.

I like this board...there doesn't seem to be a sure strategy though, as it appears to change each game, depending on how the other two players go at it.

Nice board, innovative and balanced. Yet the gameplay will depend on the players.

Good board, too symmetrical for my liking. Innovative use of capitols.

Fun board. Its kinda like a a game of chicken between three people. Try not to get on the bad side of anyone else they team up on you. The most important skill is knowing when to let the main map go and focus on getting to the capitols. Its typically sooner than most think. Later on you can use your card bonuses to staff you fight to the capitols if you are loosing ground on the main board

I enjoy this board but definitely don't have the hang of it yet. It's interesting that a person who is "eliminated" can still have a come from behind victory.

Fun, But not the best. Seems i always pick the same spot another does and neither of us want to give in, in turn the 3rd guy always wins. Perhaps have each of the 3 players start in a corner by themselves.

A really fantastic map. Innovative use of capitals as endgame. Initial choices and neutral bashing determine the relative strengths of each player, then turn order and cards are crucial. If the board develops symmetrically, the games can be stale but never is there a stalemate. There will be some variation against the neutrals in the "race" part, but the combination of at most 18 units to place in the gate per turn, and 70 units total to break, there is time for the other two players to react.

3 legged race allows for many strategies, and sometimes it's best to modify your strategy midgame. While this can be said for any decent map, the decision making involved in unit allocation, and resulting inter-player dynamics that this creates, amplifies the best aspects of a 3 player match.

Nicely done.

EDIT: What? An average 0f 6.36?!?! This review needs a bump.

I like the start of this board, however, once you have been eliminated from the triangle, the game is over. Having players remain in the circle is a waste of time as there is no way they can come back.

This is a great example that shows how really different boards on this site can be. Having the race to capitals is a great game mechanic that turns an interesting map to fight on into a delicate balance. Deciding whether to attack the capital or fight for the triangles is a fun dilemma to work through.

I generally dislike 3 player games on all maps, but not this one.
